You may know that our letterpress studio is run out of my home. You may not know that it’s in the same room where we do our laundry. You may also not know that the packing table where we put together our orders is also in the same room I work out in in the morning, the same room the girls curl up on the couch to read books, and the same room where we hear the chimney swifts making a ruckus in our flue every evening in Summer. Having the studio set up this way has allowed me to avoid business debt while meeting the needs of my family during this season. It has also meant walking around at all times of the day with my brain always “on”, always needing to meet some demand, or answer someone’s questions. It has meant being a mom, homeschool teacher, boss, printer, artist, marketer, website builder, photographer, accountant, wife, chicken farmer simultaneously in real time since the pandemic began last March.

Please know this is NOT a complaint! I’m also not seeking encouragement from this (although if you want to give it, encouragement is a beautiful thing, and I advocate it wholeheartedly whenever you feel the urge... seriously encourage anyone anytime the urge strikes —the world needs it).

I’m telling you this for two reasons:

1) You may be someone else who’s wearing a lot of hats or juggling a lot of balls during this time of your life, and I just want to say- you’re doing great, seriously! Life is not for the faint of heart. Take it one day at a time, give it your best each day, and when the day is done do what you can to release whatever went wrong, whatever you forgot or messed up. This will not last forever! And breathe!

2) To announce that I also know that the way I have run my business until now is not sustainable or capable of growing with the ideas we have for its future, and so, we’ve decided to create an official studio for BPP! It’s not beautiful yet, and frankly, it may never be the most instagrammable studio, but we’ll be working hard to renovate this little house over the Summer, and sharing some of the lessons we learn along the way! So above and below you can see the future BPP studios in progress. Here we go 💪
